Florissant police have a warning for city residents.
Police say that scammers have been posing as IRS officials and calling residents. An investigation led police to a phone number that originates in the Buffalo, New York area. People from around the country have been getting calls from the number. The person on the other end of the line says they are with the IRS and the victim owes money.
The Florissant Police remind everyone--be aware of the scam and do not give out personal information over the phone without confirming the caller's identity.
Police were able to identify the phone number that the scammers were calling from as: (716) 242-7149
