Officers serve eviction notice, incident ends with standoff

(KTRS) – What should have been the routine serving of eviction papers to a St. Louis County home ended in a standoff.

Deputies went to a home near Riverview Gardens High School just after 10 AM. Officials say a man saw the officers coming and released two dogs who charged the deputies. The officers shot the dogs, their condition is not clear at this time. Another person in the home told the Post-Dispatch that she does not believe the dogs were released to attack the deputies.

Police say the man in the home threatened to kill the officers and locked himself in the home. SWAT was called and the man surrendered without further incident before 1 PM.

The homeowner rented the house to his son and requested the eviction because his son had not paid rent.
