ST. LOUIS (AP) – The task force developing plans for a new football stadium along the Mississippi River in St. Louis now anticipates that the state of Missouri and the city will contribute $250 million, not the $350 million originally anticipated, for the project.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that task force chief David Peacock made those comments Tuesday during a speech at the Chase Park Plaza.

Peacock says the plan will make up the difference with $150 million in tax credits and other economic tools. The original proposal called for $55 million in tax credits.

The St. Louis Rams play in the Edward Jones Dome, outdated by NFL standards. Owner Stan Kroenke has interest in a stadium project in suburban Los Angeles, prompting speculation the team will move in 2016.
