(KTRS) – An O’Fallon, Missouri man is in custody and a police dog is recovering from injuries after a standoff over the weekend.

The 45-year-old man was arrested after a nearly 9-hour stand off that ended late Sunday¬†night. Police were called to the scene Sunday afternoon on reports of a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived, the man barricaded himself in the basement of his girlfriend’s home.

During the standoff police sent in a canine unit. After hearing what they thought was a gunshot, the SWAT team moved in. The dog, named Talos, was injured and taken to an emergency animal clinic for treatment.
