The St. Louis Police Chief is defending the first arrest made from a tip submitted on the department’s new crime reporting app. Chief Sam Dotson tweeted about the arrest for panhandling Thursday and faced almost immediate backlash for focusing on panhandling. Dotson later clarified saying the suspect was also charged with trespassing. The department launched the app last month.
