( KTRS ) The City of St. Louis is closing in on assembling a 99-acre area, for a new $1.6 billion National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency site.

The new site referred to as ‘NGA West’ is expected to employ 3,100 people.

The Army Corps of Engineers requires that the site have a single owner; in this case, the City of St. Louis.

Maggie Crane, spokeswoman for Mayor Slay’s office says, steps are being taken to keep the NGA in the City of St. Louis. More information on those steps is expected to be released Wednesday morning.
