Racial Equity and Reconciliation Was The Focus Of Ferguson Commission Meeting

St. Louis, MO (KTRS)  Members of the Ferguson Commission are addressing racial equity and racial reconciliation. That was the focus of Wednesday night’s meeting at the Sheet Metal Workers’ Hall in St. Louis.

William Buster of the W.K . Kellogg Foundation was the guest speaker. Buster explains that the healing process isn’t easy.  He says it involves friction, tension, and uncomfortable situations before healing can begin.

Buster also says it’s important to understand what racial equity is not. “Racial equity is not diversity. Diversity is variety. Racial equity is not inclusion. Though inclusion is a good thing. Inclusion equals representation. Racial equity is not equality. Equality means sameness. Racial equity equals fairness and justice, pure and simple.”

Part of what the W.K. Kellogg Foundation does is promote racial equity.

The next meeting of the Ferguson Commission is tentatively scheduled for April 13th.
