Report: African-Americans in St. Louis more likely to be unemployed than whites

(KTRS) – A new report finds that African-Americans living in the St. Louis area are almost twice as likely to live in poverty when compared to whites.

That gives the region one of the highest racial-economic disparities in the nation. A black household in the metro area has a median income just under $35,000, while a white household earns nearly $58,000. The unemployment level for blacks is as 2.2 times higher than it is for whites.

The report did give some good news, St. Louis finished well in the areas of education and housing.

The report,is available at http://www.ewgateway.org/wws.
