Severe Weather Causes Flooding, Damage In The Region

St. Louis, MO (KTRS)  Wednesday night’s strong storms are to blame for causing havoc to our area.

Authorities say dozens of residents were evacuated from the Lakeside Manor Mobile Home Park in Festus and Lifestyle Mobile Home Park in Hematite due to flash flooding. No serious injuries were reported.

Meanwhile, Mercy Hospital in Crystal City encountered flooding in the emergency department. This forced the hospital to close the E-R and relocate emergency services to another area of the hospital. This is expected to remain in place until Monday.

Flooding was also reported on several streets in St. Louis. In Forest Park, trees were downed and equipment that was set up for Fair St. Louis was knocked down.

The National Weather Service is reporting that it was likely a tornado that hit Lee’s Summit Wednesday night, with another likely tornado just southwest of Pleasant Hill.

Lee’s Summit police report damage to several businesses at a strip mall, with several vehicles also damaged. Minor damage was reported at Lee’s Summit North High School, where volunteers selling fireworks had to run for cover.

Parts of the state received more than five inches of rain.
