Slay wants to raise minimum wage to $15

ST. LOUIS (KTRS) – Mayor Francis Slay thinks the current minimum wage of $7.65 an hour is too low. Now he wants to raise it to $15 by 2020.

Although the specifics of Slay’s plan have yet to be released, Alderman Shane Cohn is set to introduce the legislation in front of the full Board of Aldermen next week.

St. Louis isn’t the alone in its quest to raise wages. The Los Angeles City Council voted last month to raise its minimum wage to $15 by 2020. San Francisco will be at $15 by 2018 and Chicago at $13 by 2019. Sacramento, New York City, and Washington D.C. are also considering their own minimum wage increases.
