ST. LOUIS (AP) - A Missouri judge has ordered the Archdiocese of St. Louis to release by the end of the working day Friday the names of all priests accused of sexual abuse in the past 20 years.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports St. Louis Circuit Judge Robert Dierker's disclosure order also includes the names of those who made the complaints.
The judge said the archdiocese could withhold the names of those involved in cases the church determined were "unsubstantiated," leaving it unclear what the archdiocese will ultimately release from 234 complaints identified by the court.
A woman who is suing a defrocked priest, the archdiocese and Archbishop Robert Carlson sought the records. She alleges former priest Joseph Ross began abusing her 16 years ago.

The St. Louis Archdiocese is seeking dismissal of a lawsuit by the family of a teenage girl, which claims that Archbishop Robert Carlson failed to prevent her molestation by a priest who was assigned to the Cathedral Basilica.

The Rev. Joseph Jiang lived at the Archbishop's residence at the time he was accused of sexual abuse and witness tampering in the case involving a 16 year old girl.

Jiang reportedly left a $20,000 check on the windshield of a car belonging to the victim's family, in what appeared to be an attempt to convince the family not to disclose the improper conduct.

The lawsuit says Archbishop Carlson requested the check be returned to him. The suit accuses the Archbishop of attempting to tamper with physical evidence.

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is banning alcohol at events aimed at minors, like youth soccer and softball games.  A group of clergy had unanimously approved the new rule last month (September).

In a letter to parishioners last week, Archbishop Robert Carlson wrote that alcohol at games or other events directed toward minors "is not to be served to anyone or brought in by someone."  The new rule takes effect Friday.

Some athletic associations are expected to lose revenue as concession stand beer sales are prohibited.   But one member of the clergy group that approved the change told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that alcohol sales were already discouraged and many parishes already barred it, so the change just makes the parishes consistent.

The St. Louis Catholic Archbishop is named in a new lawsuit, accusing him of helping to cover up the sexual abuse of a second-grade girl and teen boy by a priest.

The alleged abuse too place when Archbishop Robert Carlson was a church official in Minneapolis three decades ago. The lawsuit says Carlson was one of three officials who knew of the repeated abuses at the hand of Reverend Robert Thurner. Carlson and the other officials never reported the incidents to police. Lawyers for the alleged victim say they will demand that Carlson answer questions under oath in the case.

Neither Carlson nor the St. Louis Archdiocese have yet commented on the charges.

St. Louis Archbishop Robert Carlson is scheduled to give a deposition Thursday in the sex abuse case involving Father Joseph Jiang.

Father Jiang has been charged with child endangerment for allegedly having a sexual relationship with a 16 year old Lincoln County girl.  He also faces witness tampering charges.  Father Jiang has pleaded not guilty.

A spokesperson for the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests says this is the first time a high ranking Catholic official in St. Louis will give a deposition in a criminal child sex abuse case.

The parents of a Lincoln County girl who reported being molested by a priest are now suing St. Louis Archbishop Robert Carlson, claiming he knew the priest was a danger to children. The suit, filed Friday in Lincoln County, asks for unspecified damages.

The teenage girl had told police last June that Father Xiu Hui "Joseph" Jiang, an associate pastor at the St. Louis Cathedral Basilica in the Central West End, had molested her.  The 30 year old priest was later charged with endangering the welfare of a child.

Members of the Survivors Network of those Abused by Priests, or SNAP, are gathering outside the Cathedral Basilica today.

The gathering comes a week before Archbishop Robert Carlson is expected to give testimony in a criminal case. Carlson is one of two basilica officials subpoenaed in the case. Prosecutors allege that a fromer associate pastor of the Cathedral Basilica fondled a teenage girl in 2012.

SNAP officials believe this is the first time Carlson has been subpoenaed in a criminal case.
