A water main break will cause lengthy delays in Maplewood tonight.
A water main ruptured below Big Bend immediately north of Manchester Road. The break has forced the closure of Big Bends two, "through" lanes. Drivers will still be able to continue southbound on Big Bend across Manchester, but will have to share a lane that is normally dedicated to left turns onto Manchester.
Officials say about 25,000 cars and trucks drive this section of Big Bend everyday. Motorists are encouraged to avoid the area this evening.
Traffic scofflaws now have a chance to avoid jail time. Later this week, Maplewood and Richmond Heights will offer three warrant amnesty days for traffic offenders. Starting on Thursday and running through Saturday, people with traffic warrants can personally appear and simply pay a $200 bond. Your court date will then be rescheduled. Hours and locations of where to go to clear your name can be found on our website at ktrs.com.

A Maplewood man is headed to prison for offering a reward to anyone who killed Maplewood Police Officers.
William Lawrence first came to the attention of authorities in February of 2012. Officers responded to a call and arrested him. During the incident, officers discovered marijuana plants and firearms in his apartment. After being released, Lawrence repeatedly demanded his firearms be returned, but police were holding them as evidence.
Frustrated, Lawrence then placed an ad on Craigslist that offered $1 million to anyone who murdered an officer. Lawrence will spend six years behind bars.
Police say the victim had just finished shopping when he returned to his truck around noon Thursday to find someone driving off with it.
Maplewood Police Detective Matt Nibor says the truck's owner chased after him, jumping into the bed of the pickup. "The truck then started traveling at a high rate of speed down Hanley Road and then entered onto Highway 40 eastbound."
Detective Nibor says the victim broke out a window on the truck and the suspect pulled over. Then the suspect threw the victim out of the truck bed, beat him and left him along the roadside.
The victim is expected to recover.
Police are looking for the suspect and the stolen 1992 GMC Seirra with Missouri plates reading 1HN-375. The truck is maroon, with a darker maroon hood, white front fenders and a broken rear window.
The suspect is described as a light skin African American Male in his early 20s. He is about 5’7″ and weighs about 150 lbs. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt and blue jeans.
