JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Republican Catherine Hanaway says she raised more than $300,000 in the first couple of months after announcing her candidacy for Missouri governor in 2016.
Hanaway's campaign released a summary Thursday of her fundraising figures for the period ending March 31. Quarterly finance reports are due to be filed with the Missouri Ethics Commission next Tuesday.
Hanaway announced her gubernatorial candidacy Feb. 8. She says she raised nearly $308,000 by the end of March and had nearly $302,000 on hand after expenses.
Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon cannot seek re-election because of term limits.
Hanaway was the first Republican to declare her candidacy to succeed Nixon, though State Auditor Tom Schweich also is interested in the governor's race.
Democratic Attorney General Chris Koster also is preparing to run for governor.

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - The Missouri House is not planning to give Gov. Jay Nixon's administration data related to an attempted access of the list of gun permit holders.

The Office of Administration requested computer logs last week after a House computer was used to access a secure website containing the gun data. The House computer used credentials the state had previously provided to a federal agent.

House Speaker Tim Jones says the attempted access was part of an investigation into the Nixon administration. House Clerk Adam Crumbliss sent a letter to the Nixon administration Monday that says releasing the House computer data could compromise the ongoing investigation.

Commissioner of Administration Doug Nelson says the access was unauthorized because the information on the website had been intended for use by law enforcement.

Missouri mental health officials are hoping Governor Nixon and state lawmakers will include the Fulton State Hospital in a proposed state bonding package.

The hospital is Missouri's only maximum and intermediate security psychiatric hospital and is the oldest public mental health facility west of the Mississippi River.

The Department of Mental Health is proposing a new 300 bed, high-security facility that would cost about $211 million.

Officials say current facilities are antiquated and a new building would save utility cots and make for a safer facility.

Fulton State Hospital is in Fulton, Missouri, about 100 miles west of St. Louis.
