   O'FALLON, Mo. (AP) - A man and woman from New Mexico are facing charges after authorities allegedly found more than 200 pounds of marijuana in their vehicle during a traffic stop.
   Authorities say 38 year old Matthew Serrano and 23 year old Vista Scott are both charged with drug trafficking and attempted trafficking.
   The suspects were in a car stopped for a traffic violation Saturday in O'Fallon, Mo. Police say they noticed a strong marijuana odor and performed a search that uncovered nine large bundles of the drug.
   Both are jailed on $100,000 bond.

O'FALLON, Mo. (AP) - Ameren Missouri plans to build a solar energy facility in O'Fallon, Mo.
 
The St. Louis-based utility announced plans for the multimillion-dollar facility on Monday. Ameren says the plant will provide 5.7 megawatts of electricity, enough to power about 650 homes.
 
The project is expected to create up to 70 construction jobs. Work should begin in April and Ameren hopes to have the project operating by December.

KTRS - O'Fallon, MO - One person is dead, two others injured after a traffic accident in O'Fallon, Missouri.

 

Police say a car driving on Weldon Spring pulled in front of a car that was driving on Technology Drive. A passenger in the vehicle on Weldon Spring died, the driver of that car was injured.

 

The driver of the other vehicle was also injured.

Police seek suspects in O'Fallon robbery

The search continues for a pair of robbers who beat an employee at an O'Fallon, Missouri retail store.

Police say the suspects walked in to the store just before noon yesterday and grabbed five bottles of liquor. When the pair tried to walk past the registers without paying, an employee tried to stop them. A struggled ensued and the employee was injured. The suspects were last seen driving from the scene in a white conversion van.

   O'Fallon, Missouri city councilman Michael Snowden is stepping down after just five months in office.  

   Snowden was appointed to fill the unexpired term of former councilman Mark Perkins, and then elected to the post in April.  Perkins had quit to devote more time to his job.  

   In a statement Snowden says he's accepted a position in another State to run and operate a "911-Emergency Dispatch Center." His resignation is effective September 15th.

   It's not known yet if his Fifth Ward seat will be filled before the general election next April.

A former cable repairman will be in prison until he is nearly 100 years old for terrorizing and sexually assaulting a customer.

The crime happened in December of last year in O'Fallon, Missouri. James Hederle repaired the victim's cable one day and then asked her out. The next day, around midnight, Hederle returned to her house, broke down the front door, and tied the woman up. He proceeded to rape the woman and said if she told anyone he would kill her.

Thursday, the 22-year-old Hederle was sentenced to 75 years in prison for the crime.

An O'Fallon, Missouri woman is facing murder and child abuse connected to the death of her four-month-old daughter.

Court documents say Jessica Howell was allegedly willing to let her boyfriend have sex with her infant daughter. The day after prosecutors say Howell to the girl, identified as Ashlynn Peters, to her boyfriend's house, she was found strangled to death and had been sexually assaulted. Prosecutors say Howell knew her boyfriend had previously been convicted of having sex with a minor.

The boyfriend, identified as Jordan Prince, has been charged with murder and sodomy.

WENTZVILLE, Mo. -- AP -- Police say a St. Louis-area teenager had a simple answer for leading police on a lengthy, dangerous chase: He didn’t want to miss prom.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that the chase happened Friday in Wentzville. The suspect, 19-year-old Daniel Buck of O’Fallon, is charged with felony resisting arrest and several traffic citations.

An officer sought to pull over an SUV for numerous active warrants. Police say Buck saw police and sped away. Stop sticks eventually disabled the SUV.

Buck allegedly told police he fled because he was driving with a revoked license and had nine warrants for failure to appear on various charges. He reportedly said he didn’t want to go to jail because he was supposed to take his girlfriend to prom the next night.

O'Fallon debates gun law

O'FALLON, Mo. (AP) — The city council in a St. Louis area town is considering a bill that would declare any federal, state or local laws prohibiting guns to be in violation of the U.S. and Missouri constitutions, rendering them invalid in the town.

The measure has been proposed in O'Fallon. The Suburban Journals of Greater St. Louis reports it could be subject of a vote on March 28.

Co-sponsors Jim Pepper and John Haman Jr. say the bill would not invalidate existing laws but protect the rights of residents to bear arms. But Councilman Bob Howell questioned the need for the bill and urged major revisions. Howell says that while he supports protecting gun rights, he believes the bill puts the city in the position of passing an unconstitutional law.
