JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) - Texas Gov. Rick Perry is wading into Missouri's political battle over tax cuts.

Perry told The Associated Press on Thursday that he believes Missouri lawmakers should override Gov. Jay Nixon's veto of legislation cutting state income taxes.

A Texas economic development group began airing a radio ad Thursday in Missouri criticizing Nixon's veto and encouraging Missouri businesses to consider moving to Texas. The group also is running a Missouri TV ad touting Texas' low taxes and regulations on businesses.

Perry is to visit Missouri on Aug. 29. He plans to meet with business leaders, speak at a Missouri Chamber of Commerce luncheon and attend an evening event hosted by groups backing a veto override of the tax-cut bill.

Missouri lawmakers are to convene Sept. 11 to consider veto overrides.

CHICAGO (AP) - If Illinois becomes the 19th state to legalize medical marijuana, experts say there may be scores of legal questions for businesses.

Crain's Chicago Business reports the bill that was approved by lawmakers in Springfield is prompting questions from observers.

The measure, which is awaiting Gov. Pat Quinn's signature, is being billed as the strictest in the nation. It's not clear if Quinn will sign it.

The measure's sponsor says there'd be minimal impact on employers with a zero-tolerance drug policy.

But critics say there could be legal issues related to hiring and firing workers who test positive for the drug or show up to work while they're impaired.

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - Gov. Rick Perry is heading to Illinois to recruit businesses to relocate to Texas.

The former presidential candidate made the announcement Wednesday, after purchasing $42,000 in radio advertising in the Chicago area. Perry calls Texas' business-friendly. The ad is paid for by Texas One, a public-private marketing firm using private money.

His office says Perry will spend one night in Chicago from April 22-23 meeting with business leaders in the biotechnology and financial industries. He will also speak at the 2013 BIO International Convention.

Perry says he wants to "spur competition between states and recruit jobs and employees to Texas." He frequently travels to blue states with big Republican donors, including California, to recruit businesses to Texas.

Perry has also said he is considering running for president again in 2016.
