Search for U City shooting suspect underway

University City Police are looking for a man connected to a fatal shooting Wednesday morning.
Investigators say about 8:30 a.m, two women were shot inside their home in the 8200 block of Paramount Drive near Fogerty Park.  One of the women died.  The other is hospitalized in serious condition.  Children who were in the home at the time of the shooting weren't hurt.  The names of the victims haven't been released.
University City Police Captain Michael Ransom says they believe the women knew the suspect and let him into the home.

Columbia, IL police search for fugitive

Police in Columbia, Illinois are looking for a fugitive who lied to them about turning himself in.
Thirty-six-year-old Jeremy Davis and two accomplices allegedly stole construction equipment in Missouri and then tried to sell it in the metro-east.  Davis was identified through a cell phone picture taken by construction workers who refused to buy the stolen equipment.
Police Chief Joe Edwards says his department contacted Davis by phone and he agreed to turn himself in, but hasn't.
Chief Edwards says they're concerned for public safety because Davis has already driven recklessly to avoid arrest and has lied to police.  "That leads us to believe that that person is going to do anything they can to elude law enforcement," he said.
Davis is charged with two felony counts: aggravated possession of a stolen vehicle and driving on a revoked license for the third time. His bond is set at $50,000.
Davis is a former resident of Waterloo, IL.  Police believe he now lives in Missouri, possibly in St. Louis County.
Anyone with information about Jeremy Davis' whereabouts is asked to call the Columbia Police Department at (618) 281-5151.

PARAMUS, N.J. (AP) - Authorities say a man suspected of firing multiple shots and causing a lockdown at New Jersey's largest shopping mall has been found dead of a self-inflicted wound.

Bergen County Prosecutor John Molinelli says the body of 20-year-old Richard Shoop of Teaneck was found in a back area of the Garden State Plaza mall in Paramus early Tuesday. He says Shoop killed himself with the same weapon he used at the mall and that a note has been found.

   There were no other injuries.

Police received reports of man who fired multiple shots shortly before the mall's 9:30 p.m. closing time on Monday, sending customers and employees rushing hysterically for the exits and hiding places.

The mall, which has more than 270 stores, is located in Bergen County, about 15 miles northwest of Manhattan.

BIG BEAR LAKE, Calif. (AP) - A law enforcement official tells The Associated Press a charred body has been found in the burned cabin where a fugitive ex-cop is believed to have been in a standoff with sheriff's deputies.

The official speaking on condition of anonymity because the investigation is ongoing says the body was found at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday

Authorities said earlier they believed the man in the cabin was Christopher Dorner. He has been on the run since they say he launched a campaign to exact revenge against the Los Angeles Police Department for his firing.

Officials will be looking for identifying marks such as tattoos before confirming the identity.

Police say Dorner killed four people, including a deputy on Tuesday.
