Residents and business owners in the largest Bosnian community in America are frustrated by the crime in their Bevo Mill neighborhood.

Two convenience store murders in less than a month prompted residents to pack the Bosnian Chamber of Commerce office Wednesday night, looking for answers from City Police Chief Sam Dotson.

A nineteen year old clerk at the Quick Stop store on Chippewa was gunned down May 31st.  His brother was also shot and wounded.  Then last week a 30 year old father with a pregnant wife was shot to death while working at a 7-11 at Gravois and Bates.

The publisher of the local Bosnian newspaper, Sabah says St. Louis is developing a reputation for crime and that's off-putting to future Bosnian immigrants.  "This is a great town for new comers.  A great town for new businesses.  A great town for residential areas, but recently, suddenly, what's going on around is not good for such positive stories."

Chief Dotson told the group that crime is actually down seven-percent in the area, but that he understands their concerns and urged them to put pressure on judges to sentence repeat offenders to prison instead of probation.

The bodies of two men were found inside a University City apartment Thursday.

Univestiy City police officers had gone to the duplex in the 800 block of Pennsylvania to check the welfare of a 59 year old resident who hadn't reported to work.  Police found his body inside his second floor unit, along that of a 77 year old man who lived on the first floor.  Police say both men had apparently been stabbed to death.

There were no signs of forced entry into either unit, or signs of a struggle.  Detectives aren't sure yet if anything was stolen.

Police are still in the process of contacting next of kin, so the victim's names have not yet been released.

Police say they are following some leads, but anyone with information is urged to call the University City Police – Bureau of Investigations at 314-725-2211 or CrimeStoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477).

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. (AP) — Police say five people are dead in a shooting at an apartment complex south of Seattle, including a suspect who was shot by officers responding to the chaotic scene.

Federal Way police spokeswoman Cathy Schrock says officers responded to a 9:30 p.m. Sunday emergency call in Federal Way of shots being fired.

Arriving police spotted two injured men on the ground in a parking lot and one of them reached for a gun as the officers moved in to assist them.

Schrock says officers then opened fire. The man was killed but it wasn't immediately clear if it was from police gunfire.

The other man one the ground and another man in the parking lot were found dead.

In a search of the complex, police found yet another man dead in one apartment and a slain woman in another.

There was no immediate word what set off the gunfire.
