Man shot after answering his front door

A south St. Louis man is in serious condition after he was shot while standing in his front door last night.

Police say that just before midnight the 32-year-old man heard a knock on the front door of his house in the 3900 block of Chippewa. After he opened the door, a suspect shot the man twice in the neck.

Police have not released any information on the suspect.

Charges are filed against a man for allegedly shooting his friend after an argument over spilled beer.

Steven Rozier Jr faces charges including murder for allegedly shooting Mario Shackelford several times in the chest.

The incident started when three men, including Rozier and Shackelford, were drinking beer in a car. Rozier spilled his beer and an argument followed. During the argument, police say Rozier got a gun and started shooting.

Shackelford was pronounced dead at the scene.

St. Louis Police say an argument over a spilled beer may have led to an overnight shooting in downtown St. Louis that left one dead.

Police say just before midnight, four men sitting in a car near Keiner Plaza got into a fight after one man spilled beer on another. One of the men pulled out a gun and began shooting.  

According to police, the victim was shot multiple times in the chest and pronounced dead at the scene.  The name of the victim hasn't been released.

St. Louis County Police believe a drug deal gone bad is the reason two men were shot late Tuesday night.

Around 11:30 PM officers were called about a shooting in Jennings. Investigators believe a drug transaction was underway when two men standing outside a vehicle decided to rob two other men who were inside a vehicle. One person in the car then pulled a gun of his owner and shot the would-be robbers.

Both of the victims are reported to be 22 years old and hospitalized.  No names have been released.

The visitation for the nine-year-old boy shot and killed while riding in a car with his father last week.

Family and friends will say goodbye to Tyrese Short this afternoon. The visitation runs from 3PM to 7PM at the Friendly Temple Church in North St. Louis. Tyrese lived with his mother in Texas, but was spending the summer with his father in St. Louis. He was in a car with his father at 3:30 in the morning last Wednesday when someone opened fire on the car, hitting only Tyrese. He died the next day at the hospital.

His funeral will be held Thursday morning.

The family has set up a donation fund to help with funeral expenses. You can donate to that fund at any PNC Bank.

   The St. Clair County States Attorney is considering charges after a six year old child got a hold of a gun and shot an 11 year old boy in Belleville Tuesday night.  

   Belleville police spokesman Mark Heffernan says it happened when three children were playing upstairs in a home during a family barbecue.  Police say the handgun didn't belong to the owners of the house but may have come from someone who was staying there.  

   Eleven year old Leonard Smith, Jr. was shot in the head and died on the way to the hospital.

   Police say Smith lived in East St. Louis and was visiting the family in Belleville.

   One man is dead and another is in critical condition after a shooting in North St. Louis Tuesday afternoon.

   Police say about 4 p.m, a man approached a home near Fairground Park.  He reportedly yelled at the people sitting on the front porch and then fired shots at them.  

   One man was hit in the chest.  He later died.  Another man was hit in the back. He's hospitalized in critical, but stable condition.  

   Police say a 20 year old man has been taken into custody in connection to the shooting.  Police say a disagreement over a debt led to the confrontation.

St. Louis man convicted in 2011 shooting

ST. LOUIS (AP) — One of three men accused in a 2011 shooting death in St. Louis has been found guilty of first-degree murder.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that a jury convicted 21-year-old Michael Ford the Third on Thursday after a four-day trial.

Ford was accused in the death of 22-year-old Calvin Ross, whose body was found in July 2011 in an alley. Authorities say he had been repeatedly shot.

Two co-defendants, DeJuan Blocker of Spanish Lake and Antoine Barton of St. Louis, have pleaded not guilty to charges of murder and armed criminal action. They await trial.

A St. Louis Police officer is receiving treatment after an accidental shooting.

Just after 11 AM, an officer was trying to shoot an aggressive dog, but he missed the dog. The bullet ricocheted and hit the officer's partner in the ear and arm. The victim was taken to the hospital and Police Chief Sam Dotson tweeted that the officer was in "good spirits".

LATEST: Nine-yr-old boy shot in north city

A nine-year-old boy continues to fight for his life after being shot in the head overnight.  

St. Louis Police say the child was riding in a car with his father and two other men, an 18-year-old and a 22-year-old. They were travelling on Goodfellow near Lillian Avenue around 3:30am Wednesday when the boy was hit. 

They took the child to a nearby police station for help where he was rushed to St. Louis Children's Hospital. Police tell KTRS news no one else was hurt.  

Goodfellow was closed Wednesday morning between Lillian and Sherry Avenues while police investigated.
