Mayor Paul reacts to suspension on KTRS

Thursday, 28 February 2013 10:07 Published in Local News
Suspended Ellisville Mayor Adam Paul speaks out about a move by city council members to kick him permanently out of office. Calling it a bad parody of the Last Supper, the 32-year-old Mayor tells McGraw in the Morning he's been falsely accused of disclosing confidential information and drinking on the job.

"That's the most below the belt claim on there," Paul said.

Last April, Paul ran on a platform opposing a TIF for a new Walmart on behalf of hundreds of residents many of whom showed up Wednesday night on his behalf.

A hearing was scheduled for March 20th to decide whether Paul should be permanently removed from office. Mayor Paul tells McGraw he expects to be impeached and then plans to ask the courts to intervene. Paul is also considering another run for Mayor.

Mo. snowstorm is dangerous, even for the plows

Tuesday, 26 February 2013 09:56 Published in Local News
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) - The snowstorm blasting the Kansas City area is so dangerous to traffic that even the state of Missouri's heavy-duty snow plows are having trouble staying on the roads. The Kansas City Star reports (http://bit.ly/13kBvkh ) that at least eight Missouri Department of Transportation snow plows fell into highway ditches early Tuesday. Two of them fell on their sides. The state had more than 200 plows working in the Kansas City area alone to deal with snowfall up to 8 inches in spots. MODOT spokesman Steve Porter says at least two of the plows went off the road in their attempts to clear highway ramps.

Ellisville mayor facing impeechment

Tuesday, 26 February 2013 09:32 Published in Local News
A political witch hunt. That's what an attorney representing Ellisville Mayor Adam Paul is calling a move to get the Mayor thrown out of office.

Tomorrow, city council members will meet to vote on whether to impeach Paul on charges that range from disclosing employee salaries to drinking on the job just after he was elected. Speaking with McGraw in the morning earlier today, the Mayor's attorney, Chet Pleban, calls allegations in the 11-page impeachment resolution false and questions why the council's motives to oust the mayor just before the April elections.

"Adam Paul tried to replace a city attorney. Adam Paul is opposed to TIFs and Walmart. The Mayor is a voting member of the council pursuant to the charter so what's going to happen is 44 percent of people who voted for him will be deprived of vote and voice on the council."

Ellisville's city attorney tells the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the mayor's improprieties began right after he took office last April. The 32-year-old Paul ran over a year ago on a platform of opposing the building of a new Walmart using TIF money. But the majority of council members voted in favor of the Walmart TIF which is now tied up in court.
