Judge sides with Rams in age discrimination suit

Sunday, 02 March 2014 08:10 Published in Local News

ST. LOUIS (AP) — A federal jury in St. Louis has found in favor of the St. Louis Rams in a lawsuit filed by a woman who claimed she was forced out because of her age.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reported Lory Fabian was 56 when she sued the Rams in 2012, claiming she was one of a number of older employees who lost their jobs to younger workers.

Rams attorney Bradley Winters argued Friday that Fabian simply was not rehired when her contract ended in 2011. He said performance issues and the way she dealt with co-workers led to that decision.

Fabian's lawyer said older employees were replaced with interns, and that Fabian had performed her job well.

A judge tossed out a sexual harassment claim before the trial, which ended Friday.

Missouri Revenue Department cuts may be permanent

Sunday, 02 March 2014 08:08 Published in Local News

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) — The budget cuts legislators imposed last year on the Missouri Department of Revenue likely will remain in place, even though the drivers' license controversy that sparked them has been resolved through a new law.

Lawmakers reduced the department's licensing division by $700,000 for the current budget year in an attempt to block the agency from scanning driving applicants' personal documents into a state computer.

But Governor Jay Nixon isn't asking lawmakers to restore the funding for the remainder of this budget year, nor is he asking for the funding to be placed in the state budget that begins in July.

At the time, lawmakers said funding would be restored if the agency stopped scanning the documents, which it did after Nixon signed legislation last year prohibiting the procedure.

St. Louis, MO (KTRS) - The first wave of a winter storm moved through the metro area late Saturday night.

Freezing drizzle started falling late Saturday evening and caused slick spots on side streets, neighborhoods, and parking lots. That freezing drizzle transitioned to sleet in the early morning hours of Sunday.

Precipitation will return in waves Sunday. A break in the snow and sleet is expected late morning into the early afternoon before the snow ramps up. Metro St. Louis should expect mostly snow, with a mix of snow and sleet expecter further south. There could be isolated periods of heave snow late Sunday.

This storm will be followed up by near record cold for March. Overnight lows should at or just above zero Monday night into Tuesday morning.
