UPDATE: Police shoot and kill suspect in South St. Louis shooting

A suspect is on the loose after shooting a woman and her teenage daughter Tuesday afternoon.
The shooting happened around 1 PM at a home in the 4600 block of Tennessee Ave. A mother and here daughter were rushed to the hospital. The mother was pronounced dead, but the daughter is in stable condition and expected to survive.
SWAT teams were called to the home and they surrounded the residence. Police believed the suspect was in the house, but a search revealed he had fled the house.
This is a fluid situation and we will update you as we have more information.
Four men arrested, connected to large copper theft ring
Tuesday, 05 March 2013 14:19 Published in Local NewsThe Franklin County Sheriff's Department says the four men stole copper cables from AT&T phone lines and caused $140,000 in damage. The stolen lines affected service in several towns in Franklin County.
Deputies say the suspects were arrested at their home, while in the process of preparing the stolen cable for sale. Authorities say there could be more arrests related to the ring.
Missouri lawmakers consider new rules for sex offender voting
Tuesday, 05 March 2013 13:25 Published in Local NewsThe House Elections Committee held a hearing on the measure Tuesday. Republican Rep. Tim Remole, of Excello, is sponsoring the legislation. He says it will protect voting rights for registered offenders while also protecting children in schools that are designated as polling places.
No one testified in opposition to the proposal, but the Missouri Association of County Clerks says it would cost money to turn local election offices into polling places on election day.
If offenders can't make it to the clerk's office on the election day, they would be required to cast an absentee ballot.
