Space X launches capsule to supply ISS

Friday, 01 March 2013 12:22 Published in National News
CAPE CANAVERAL, FL-- CNN – SpaceX launched its unmanned Dragon cargo capsule from Florida on Friday morning, starting the company’s second NASA-contracted resupply mission to the International Space Station.

The company was working on a technical difficulty shortly after the capsule separated from its Falcon 9 rocket. SpaceX’s CEO, Elon Musk, posted on Twitter that the some of the capsule’s thrusters — which it would use to reach the station — weren’t initializing.

Musk wrote that SpaceX would hold off on deploying the capsule’s solar arrays until it could get at least two of the four thruster pods to work. The Dragon is due to dock with the space station on Saturday. It’s carrying 1,268 pounds of supplies for the crew and its experiments, NASA says. The mission is the California company’s second of a planned 12 resupply missions under a contract with NASA.
A group in Kansas City will bid on the 2016 Republican National Convention.

Organizers envision most of the convention taking place at the Sprint Center in downtown Kansas City. But say other events could be held at venues in the city's Kansas suburbs. The Republican convention was held in Kansas City in 1976.
SAVERTON, Mo. (AP) - Juveniles are suspected in a series of fires at a tiny Mississippi River town in northeast Missouri.

Ralls County and state investigators say three fires over the past four months at vacant homes in Saverton were intentionally set by youngsters. The Hannibal Courier-Post reports that the names and ages of the suspects, and the number of them, were not released.

The matter has been turned over to juvenile authorities.

Saverton is an unincorporated town of about 75 residents near Hannibal and about 100 miles north of St. Louis.
