Neither rain, nor sleet, nor snow can keep letter carriers from delivering a message: stopping Saturday mail delivery is a bad idea. Despite Sunday's snow storm, letter carriers rallied outside the main post office in downtown St. Louis.

U.S. Postal Service officials have announced plans to end Saturday mail delivery in an effort to cut $2 billion in costs. But the letter carriers argue that USPS will also lose business if Saturday mail delivery is stopped.

Sunday's rally in St. Louis was one of dozens across the country staged by the postal workers' union as part of their National Day of Action.

UPDATE: I-44 reopens in St. Louis after semi fire

Monday, 25 March 2013 00:36 Published in Local News
A tractor-trailer fire caused delays for drivers along Interstate 44 in the City of St. Louis overnight.

Crews had to closed eastbound I-44 at Vandeventer just before midnight while emergency crews worked to contain it. The right two lanes reopened about 12:30 a.m. but the left lane remained closed.

It's not clear what sparked the fire, but the tractor and trailer appear to be total losses. Both have burned down to their metal frames.

There's no word of any injuries.

Antenna maker says cable TV refusing to air ads

Friday, 22 March 2013 04:42 Published in Local News
A TV antenna maker had wanted to use the competition's own medium — cable TV — for its anti-cable message.

Officials at Antennas Direct say Charter Communications' refusal to air the ads is evidence of cable's growing concern over antennas.

At issue are 60 second spots that Antennas Direct of Ellisville sought to air in the St. Louis market.
