Missouri back in the running for Boeing 777X plant

Friday, 13 December 2013 04:28 Published in Local News
We still don't know where Boeing will build its new 777X commercial airliner, but it looks like it won't be in Washington State.  Thursday night, the machinists' union rejected Boeing's final contract offer to keep the plant in the Puget Sound area.
Missouri is one of 22 states bidding for the plant.  There's no indication which location Boeing will select.  Boeing officials have said they'rell make that announcement in mid-January.
In the mean time, the aerospace giant has announced plans to send more jobs to St. Louis. Over the next two years the company will add 300-400 new research and development positions as part of a larger reorganization. The St. Louis-based units should be up and running by 2015.

Cardinals raise season ticket prices

Friday, 13 December 2013 04:25 Published in Local News

Most season ticket holders will have to pay more for their 2014 Cardinal's tickets.  The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that overall season tickets will see an average increase of 4.1 percent.  Club president Bill DeWitt-the-third told the paper that 83 percent of season ticket prices will go up, more than half by one dollar a game.

The team is also redrawing the section map in response to data showing high demand for certain sections.

About 22,000 season ticket holders will receive their renewal notices over the next few days.

Individual game tickets go on sale February 28th.

Fallen Marine from Poplar Bluff returns home

Friday, 13 December 2013 04:22 Published in Local News

A U.S. Marine from Poplar Bluff will be laid to rest this weekend.

Staff Sergeant Eric Summers was one of four Marines killed last month during a bomb removal training exercise at Camp Pendleton.

An honor guard met the Marine's casket at Lambert Airport Thursday evening and escorted his remains back to Poplar Bluff.

   Summers' funeral will be Saturday.

Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has ordered flags be flown half staff tomorrow to honor Summers bravery.
