The St. Louis Board of Aldermen is set to vote on a compromise plan to raise the city’s minimum wage on Friday.

The plan calls for raising the minimum wage to $11 an hour by 2018. If passed, this would raise the minimum wage to $8.25 an hour in the city immediately.

Supporters say this will help low-income workers. Opponents say this would have a negative impact on the city, possibly prompting businesses to relocate.
