ST. LOUIS (AP) – An internal misconduct investigation continues in St. Louis after the suspension of a veteran police detective and the sudden resignation of two city prosecutors.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that 25-year employee Thomas A. Carroll was suspended without pay on July 31 for unspecified allegations of misconduct. Assistant circuit attorneys Bliss Worrell and Katherine Dierdorf also left their jobs in connection with the situation.

Worrell is the daughter-in-law of former St. Louis Cardinals pitcher Todd Worrell. Dierdorf is the daughter of former St. Louis Cardinals football player and broadcaster Dan Dierdorf.

The newspaper said the investigation involves a car break-in and theft in which the victim was Carroll’s daughter. The paper was not able to reach Thompson, Worrell or Dierdorf for comment.
