(KTRS) – St. Louis County is gearing up for flu season and they are asking residents to help defend the community.
The flu bug is already popping up in parts of the county, but so far in small numbers. That is why officials are recommending everyone get their flu shot and they say it is easy to get one.
Every year more than 200,000 people are hospitalized for the flu and an average of 36,000 people die because of the flu every year. Health officials say even if you contract a strain of the flu that is not covered by this year’s vaccine, your symptoms will be lessened.
The county is offering the flu mist vaccination for kids and teens. St. Louis County will offer free flu mist vaccinations to children ages 2 through 18. The event will be Saturday October 24th, from 10am to 2pm at the public health campus Berkeley and at the South County Health Center in Sunset Hills.
