(KTRS) – The St. Louis County town of Charlack may soon disband its police department.

The Post-Dispatch reports that town officials have received complaints for years about its speed trap along Interstate 170 near the airport. A former police chief was also convicted of stealing from the city.

Mayor Frank Mattingly says the final straw was a state-imposed limit on traffic ticket revenue. The city is considering signing a contract with the North County Police Cooperative to provide services.
