HARRISBURG, Pa. – Saint Louis FC earned a point in its final road game of the regular season, battling to a goalless draw against Harrisburg City Islanders Sunday night.

With the draw, Saint Louis moves to 6-11-9 (27 pts.) while Harrisburg moves to 10-10-5 (35 pts.).

“Tonight’s result is a credit to the guys’ character,” Head Coach Dale Schilly said.  “The fight we demonstrated at this point of the season with the conditions is admirable.”

The visitors had a familiar face return to the lineup, as defender Richard Dixon made his first start since suffering a knee injury in late May.

The hosts had chances early, but all were stopped by STL FC goalkeeper Alec Kann. Saint Louis answered back with a cross sent in from Jacob Bushue to Jordan Roberts, but his shot was turned aside by Harrisburg’s Nick Noble.

Play picked up in the second half, as Harrisburg sent two shots off the post.

However, the Saint Louis attack continued. A ball sent in from outside the penalty area from Bryan Ciesiulka found the foot of Jamiel Hardware, who ripped a shot low to the near side but was stopped by Noble.

There was another late chance for the visitors as Roberts burst through the Harrisburg defense and took a shot that went just wide of the far post.

“We felt very good about our performance in the first 30 minutes of the second half,” Schilly said.  “We defended as a group very well, and created two great chances on the break.  Good saves by their goalkeeper kept us off the board.”

Saint Louis FC will close out the regular season with back-to-back home games, beginning on Saturday against the Charlotte Independence. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM.

“We can build off of this,” Schilly added.  “We have had a tough road stretch: Charleston, Richmond, Rochester and Harrisburg.  We battled in each of those road games, and as we build toward next year, getting points on the road is part of what is necessary to achieve our goals.  I am very happy with our effort and commitment.”
