Storms Leave Thousands Without Power in MO, ILL

ST. LOUIS (KTRS) Ameren crews are restoring power to thousands of customers following a wave of severe weather that rolled through the region before dawn. MoDOT crews are also busy assessing damages after this morning’s severe thunderstorms took down trees, power lines, and traffic signals. Winds of up to 70 mph crossed Missouri late yesterday and early this morning. At its peak, the storm took out power to almost 66,000 Ameren customers Most of the outages are in the St. Louis area but outages are reported throughout the state.
Power outages at some schools have led to early dismissal. West High, Green Trails, Henry and McKelvey elementary schools dismissed at 10 a.m. Friday, Bellerive Elementary dismisses classes at 1 p.m. Parkway West High School also dismissed early.
