Ferguson, MO (KTRS)  The city of Ferguson officially has three new council members. Last night Wesley Bell, Ella Jones, and Brian Fletcher were sworn in at Tuesday night’s city Council meeting.

The newly sworn in council members seem full of excitement and hope with this new endeavor. All three say the fact that they have shared a friendship for many years will make for a good working relationship.

The main goal among Jones, Fletcher, and Bell is to bring healing to the community. Bell, who is serving the Ward 3, had this to say. “It’s about being there for your community and stepping up to the plate, so to me I look at it as an extension of the community service and public service I’ve been doing and I’ll continue to do that. I think if we’re going to heal this city, if we’re gonna start with the rebuild, it has to start with everyone, not just this council, Ferguson residents…we all got to come together.”

Jones, who is serving Ward 1 says she is looking forward to a new beginning and wants to focus on town hall meetings to keep the community informed.

Fletcher, who is serving Ward 2, says he is up for the challenge of finding a new police and municipal court judge for the city.

This is the first time in the city’s history that half of the City Council is occupied by African-Americans.
