Total Eclipse Stamp First-Of-Its-Kind

(U.S.)–Today (Tuesday)  the U.S. Postal Service releases a first-of-its-kind stamp commemorating the total eclipse of the sun.

What makes this stamp unique is the first-of-its-kind use of thermochromic ink on a U.S. stamp.

Thermochromic ink works from the heat of your thumb or fingers so when you rub the surface of the stamp, you’ll see a second image.

The stamp shows a total eclipse of the sun and the heat from you hands will reveal a second image of the moon. The image reverts back to the eclipse once the stamp cools.

A total eclipse of the sun occurs when the moon completely blocks the sun from view, casting a shadow on the Earth.

St. Louis is included in the path of the upcoming August 21st eclipse.
