Two Major Issues Being Considered By St. Louis Board Of Aldermen

St. Louis, MO  (KTRS)  Two major issues are on the agenda for today’s last meeting of the St. Louis Board of Aldermen before a two-month break.

The board will discuss the proposed minimum wage hike. The initial intent was to raise the minimum wage to 15-dollars an hour by 2020, but a compromise bill calls for raising the minimum wage to 11-dollars an hour by 2020. However, time is ticking away for the passage of this bill. A new state law goes into effect on August 28th, which bans cities from raising the minimum wage.

Meanwhile, the board will also consider a measure to keep the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency from leaving St. Louis. The agency is looking to relocate from its existing location in south city.

Several new locations are being considered, including one in north St. Louis.
