University City votes to reject Normandy transfers

Transfer students from the failing Normandy School District won’t be able to return to University City schools this fall.  The U. City School Board voted Thursday night not to accept transfer students from the unaccredited district.

The Francis Howell District last week had announced it would no longer accept transfers, sending 350 Normandy students packing.

The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that University City officials decided not to reject students from the unaccredited Riverview Gardens District.  But they won’t lower the tuition they charge as state Education Commissioner Chris Nicastro had asked.

Eighty-two transfer students from Normandy and nine from Riverview Gardens had attended school in University City this past school year.
