Walls of Honor Held For Former Ballwin Police Officer Mike Flamion

Ballwin, MO  (KTRS)  The community continues to show its support for former Ballwin Police Officer Mike Flamion, who was left paralyzed after being shot during a traffic stop last summer.

Dozens of people turned out for the “Walls of Honor” event on Wednesday morning for Flamion,  The event, hosted by the Gary Sinise Foundation, gave the community an opportunity to write inspirational messages on the walls of the specially adapted smart home under construction in Ballwin.
Flamion said the on-going community support is making a difference in his recovery. “When you have a bad day and it’s hard to get through, you just think about everybody that’s behind you and it gives you the motivation to push through and keep going.”

Flamion’s wife, Sarah shared in her husband’s sentiment.

“It’s heartwarming and amazing….We couldn’t get through it without it.” Sarah Flamion said.
Ballwin Police Chief Kevin Scott was among those who came to the event to lend his support. During the program, Scott spoke and shared an inspirational message to his former young officer.
“If there’s ever any doubt in your mind or ever any doubt in the mind of the men and women that serves this community, that Ballwin doesn’t support you, you need to think again because it’s the sacrifice that you made, it’s the realistic view of the community.” Scott said.

Scott added as he spoke to Flamion, “I will tell you from the day you got shot until today and beyond, God had a plan. There’s no question in my mind that God had a plan.”

The Flamion’s home, which is being funded through The Gary Sinise Foundation, is expected to be finished in the fall.
