Lewis County, MO (KTRS)  A woman is dead after driving over a flooded roadway in northeast Missouri.

The Missouri Highway Patrol reports that 33-year-old Leeanette Phillips drowned early Sunday morning when she drove over a water covered roadway in Lewis County. Phillips vehicle overturned after it was swept away by the current.

Phillips and her passenger managed to exit the vehicle. Her passenger managed to swim to safety. Phillips’ body was later recovered down stream.

Meanwhile, a Troy man has drowned after trying to check out the flooded Cuivre River in Lincoln County last week.

The Missouri Highway Patrol says 68-year-old Arthur Muensterman was on a utility vehicle last Thursday looking at the water when his vehicle got stuck. Authorities say Muensterman started walking in the water before disappearing. He was later found face down in the river.
