( KTRS ) An Illinois State Police report, on a special operation, shows successful results.

ISP created the special enforcement memorial operation, in dedication to Trooper James Sauter, who was killed in the line of duty on in March, 2013, when his squad car was struck by a tractor trailer on I-294.

The truck driver later admitted to falling asleep as the wheel and falsifying ‘drive time’ records.

On March 28th, ISP Troopers , throughout the state, aggressively patrolled Illinois roadways for 24 consecutive hours in remembrance of their fallen comrade. Authorities report that during ‘Operation Sauter,’ ISP Troopers conducted 1,657 Commercial Motor Vehicle Inspections, placing 114 dangerous Commercial Motor Vehicles out of service.

They also issued 1037 written warnings, and 190 citations.
